The problem with providing education in the hospital environment is the persistent and unwarranted use of Internet Explorer which acts like a cubist Picasso converter to contort the website into a random series of incoherent text boxes Review of the old site highlighted a few functionality issues. One of the most frustrating elements of moving to a scalable mobile responsive design was the dropdown menus. We had far too much information crammed into an unpredictable space which was only intermittently visible…so they have been discarded with the new build. We have decided to run with ‘single menu tabs’ li...

Dr. Google steps up its medical search game again
By better leveraging its Knowledge Graph smart search algorithm, Google is giving its health-related search functions a shot in the arm. Starting in the next few days, health searches on Google and via the Google app will display a wide range of medical facts about the disease or condition in question. “We’ll show you typical symptoms […]

A novel fast Fourier transform accelerated off-grid exhaustive search method for cryo-electron microscopy fitting
This paper presents a novel fast Fourier transform (FFT)-based exhaustive search method extended to off-grid translational and rotational degrees of freedom. The method combines the advantages of the FFT-based exhaustive search, which samples all the conformations of a system under study on a grid, with a local optimization technique that guarantees to find the nearest optimal off-grid conformation. The method is demonstrated on a fitting problem and can be readily applied to a docking problem. The algorithm first samples a scoring function on a six-dimensional grid of size N6 using the FFT. This operation has an asymptoti...

Use of a search summary table to improve systematic review search methods, results, and efficiency
CONCLUSIONS: Publishing a search summary table in all systematic reviews would add to the growing evidence base about information retrieval, which would help in determining which databases to search for which type of review (in terms of either topic or scope), what supplementary search methods are most effective, what type of literature is being included, and where it is found. It would also provide evidence for future searching and search methods research.PMID:33424470 | PMC:PMC7772975 | DOI:10.5195/jmla.2021.809
